Mariners Near Mid-Season Form Thanks To 4-Game Losing Streak

Though they typically don't hit their stride until late May or early June, manager Eric Wedge says his club is already approaching mid-season form as a result of an earlier than expected 4-game losing streak.

"Just one week into the season, we've already shown we can't get anyone out and we have no pitching depth, resulting in a bullpen that is already fatigued," said Wedge of his pitching staff's shortcomings following a sweep at the hands of division rival Texas. "And our inability to move guys over and penchant for stranding runners on base usually won't become this evident until, at the very least, Memorial Day weekend."

Should the Mariners stretch their current slide to 6 or 7 games, according to Wedge they'll really be playing the type of sub-.500 Twitter baseball the people of the Pacific Northwest have come to know and appreciate or at least tolerate to some degree.
